Red Hook

For all the foodies, Red Hook is a peninsula located near the most well-regarded restaurants and bars in Brooklyn. Red Hook is the only place in New York City that has a complete frontal view of the Statue of Liberty on the Hudson River. It is also home to  the largest housing development in Brooklyn which accommodated around 6,000 residents. There are also a few nice parks for kids to play in and a large IKEA store, attracting shoppers from near and far. There is a ferry service that brings people from Manhattan to IKEA to do their shopping. Red Hook also hosts the Waterfront Arts Festival which is an annual summer kick-off event with dance, music, and poetry. There isn't much of a transit system so it’s best to have a car and there is easy highway access to get to and from Manhattan and Brooklyn.
